Top Tips on Tablescaping
When it comes to weddings, it’s all about the details. Transform your space with an incredible tablescape you can create in just minutes! Simply adding layers, colours and texture is the trick to crafting a truly beautiful setting.
Start by looking at the big picture. What type of event or occasion is it? What is the time of day? Season? Style of food? Is it lunch? Brunch? Or something in between? Creating a list conceptualising your big picture will enable you to look more closely at your vision and what would compliment your overarching style.
It is crucial here that you consider the venue. Often the surrounding aesthetic is a great place to start when thinking about the look and feel of your event. The next best place to go is Pinterest. See what inspires you and create your own vision board.
Now consider the table and its shape, texture and colour. Will you be using a tablecloth? This will help to narrow down your options when it comes to styling. An essential styling item is the charger or base plate. It brings additional colour, tone and interest to the tablescape. We believe that a double charger is double wow!
Don’t be scared to play with layers. A great way to add extra dimension to your table is by using a variety of stacked plates and bowls. Coloured cutlery such as black, gold, copper or two-tone is also a great way to bring your table to life. From high-end crystal to your faux-cut glass range and just about everything in between, glassware is something that we consider: less is more. We recommend just using a water and wine glass at each setting.
We love using a coloured or textured napkin in all our designs especially in burnt orange, olive green, blush pink or natural linen tones. Experiment with your napkin folds and placements using creative styles like the knot, traditional, draped, wrapped or gathered looks.
Candlelight is essential for an evening event. Use a grouping of pillar candles or simply some clear or coloured glass votives. Our favourite is the tapered dinner candle. They are tall, elegant and come in an array of different colours.
You have made it to the end and the final step to your tablescape is to add that personal touch with menus, place cards or even combine the two!
