A Day in the Life of a Wedding Planner

It is hard to nail down exactly what a day in the life of a wedding planner looks like. As each couple we work with are different, so is every day! Planning and styling multiple different weddings at a time requires communication with so many different people that no day can ever be the same. Follow me around this Monday morning to see what I got up to, to hopefully give you a glimpse of what it’s like to work in the weddings and events industry.

7:00am | Exercise. This morning I started my one-week trial of F45 and went for a cardio class. Boy, it was hard, but it got my day off to a great start! Exercise is such a key part of my week as it helps to clear my mind and be more productive across the week.

9:00am | Planning. Monday morning always starts with a team meeting in our board room at Prospect Studios. We determine what needs to be accomplished for the week, assign tasks and shoot out creative ideas for upcoming weddings and events.

10:00am | Communication. After planning with the team, I head straight to my inbox and get started on replying to the sea of emails that always seem to flood in over the weekend. These range from supplier coordination to couple commincations to university students applying for internship opportunities.

11:30am | Styling. After surging through my emails, I head to Pinterest to collect styling ideas for an upcoming wedding. We create our styling proposals using InDesign and collate a sleek and streamlined document to present to our couples.

12:30pm | Lunch. After exercising early this morning, I was starving by lunch time! The team and I headed around the corner to Nodo to enjoy a delicious lunch and reinvigorate for the rest of the day.

1:30pm | Meetings. I headed straight out to a meeting this afternoon with florist, Kate Dawes, in her Woolloongabba studio with our couple. We looked at their styling proposal and chose what floral designs and arrangements they were looking for as part of their special day.

3:00pm | Meetings. Back at the office, I met with a prospective couple searching for their perfect planner and stylist for their upcoming wedding. I presented our packages and explored the couple’s unique vision for their wedding day.

4:00pm | And more meetings. One of our couples came in for their final consultation. We go through the run sheet to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that there are no big surprises on the day.

5:00pm | Wrap up. After a massive day of planning, styling and consulting with different suppliers and clients, I wrap up the day by checking in on the team’s progress and ticking off the to-do list.
